The mission of the College of
Arts and Sciences is to prepare students for professional
careers and lifelong learning.
Through providing a quality liberal arts education,
research and community service, the College seeks to
develop students' mastery of subject matters appropriate
to the particular field of study, to develop competencies
in critical thinking and written and oral communication
and to enhance their creativity. Through a varied course
delivery system, the college helps students realize
their educational and career goals, be well prepared
for a rapidly changing world, engage constructively
with diverse cultures and beliefs, serve as responsible
participants in their communities and gain a deeper
appreciation of the beauty and scope of human experience.
The programs offered by the college emphasize problem-solving,
interpretation, learning through experience and learning
through reflection. Along with developing ideas, it
emphasizes expressing them articulately and distinctively
in speaking, writing and visual communication.
The
education that the college offers asserts that developing
a global perspective is vital for living in an increasingly
interdependent world and developing an appreciation
and tolerance for a more diverse society.
Objectives
The objectives of the College of Arts and Science
include:
1. To turn out highly-qualified specialists who can
fulfill the needs of the local labor market and to
qualify students to pursue their post graduate studies.
2. To provide its students with intellectually challenging
education in the fields of English Language and Literature,
Modern Languages, Graphic Design and Interior Design,
thus enabling them to render efficient services to
their society.
3. To prepare students for the ever-increasing challenges
of the market place by equipping them with updated
theoretical, technical and communication skills needed
for competing adequately and successfully.
4. To provide an educational environment within which
students acquire intellectual, professional and communication
skills necessary for the realization of their academic
potential and the fulfillment of their career objectives.
5. To equip students with the principles of objective
scientific research, logical reasoning and technological
facilities available in the workplace today.
6. To arm students in the fields of their specialization
with a clear understanding of the interrelations of
the various fields of science, cultures and languages.
7. To create a climate that will encourage students
to strive for excellence through continuous professional
growth, while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
